Buddahood my path

Today I woke up thinking how happy I am in my life now. 13 years ago I made a difficult decision which led me on the road to this happiness. What if I had not taken that risk? Where would i be now? 13 years ago. I left my husband because I needed to find happiness. I met the love of my life a man who was also searching for his happiness. Together we became different people. We both changed. Together we both found Buddhism.

The path I took 13 years ago took courage. In my heart I knew it was the right thing to do. I trusted something in my heart that said to me you must do this. Now I know what that was. My buddha nature was awaking within me then. I always told myself "Things happen for a reason". I've always trusted my gut feelings.I never looked for anyone to guide me. Now I have my Husband to share my thoughts, opinions, sorrows and joys.I have my gohonzon to guide me now. I am truly happy.

Well Saturday was the Hot Hot Hot Haute Wearable Art Show in Las Vegas.

And did she look Hot!
The top is a black jersey with fused glass pieces strung on a chunky gold chain. The glass is a combo of transparent orange and clear glass. The chains are detachable to use as necklace, or attach to jeans or anything you may want to do with it.

Falling Leaves Art the process

Thought I'll show the process on my latest piece of Glass Art. This one is titled "Falling Leaves"
I've always loved trees and since fall is here I wanted to capture a tree with fall colors...
First step is to glue 2 10" pieces of fusible 90 coe glass together, then by cutting glass pieces in various sizes I begin to layout the structure of the the tree, trunk, branches and the finally the leaves. After cutting all the pieces it is like putting a puzzle together. Then each piece is tacked on the base plate with a dot of glue finally it is ready for the kiln. I never know what I will find when working with glass. It is not an exact science, so it is always a surprise how the final piece turns out. This particular project the circuit breaker kick off and I had to re-fire the whole project. So here are some photos from beginning to end...

So guess I'll have to take them to the dog park to show off their new outfits this weekend.
These adorable sweaters were created by ShaggyChic on etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5578507

Chico sat and posed for me he is such a ham... Pickles the (Furry one) hardly could sit still.
He did like the taste of the sweater!
I'm sure he'll appreciate it more when the weather gets a bit colder.

Day 2 of Vacation Antwarp Belguim

Antwarp was a sleepy little town known for Diamond Cutting. Since we didn't have any extra cash for buying any diamonds we decided to walk around the town and really enjoyed this. The town is a mix of old and new which they have managed to work out quite well.
I'd been so rushed getting ready for the trip I had neglected to get a hair cut. So while we wandered around the town I found a small beauty shop with a Tall handsome Belgium Man who was able to help me out with a nice hair cut and style! After we walked around town and headed back to the ship one of our daily naps. Turns out naps were a regular event for us. I never nap at home but being away from computers, work, phones meant it was nice to have the "time" to nap or read or just sit by the pool and veg!

Back from Vacation.....

Well two weeks in Europe is awesome and exhausting. We've recently returned from our cruise which started in Amsterdam and ended in Barcelona. In Amsterdam we were amazed by how many traveled on bicycles. Our trip started in Amsterdam after we flew in from Las Vegas which was a total of 20 plus hours of travel and waiting in airports. We were quite Jet Lagged. We boarded the Century Ship and was amazed to find out we had been upgraded to a Cabin on the back of the ship with a sitting room and balcony, what a great start! The city is so pretty, canals are one way to get around the other main way of transportation was by walking or bikes. We had two days to visit in Amsterdam but the second day was mainly used for sleep. We had such a bout of Jet lag. Next stop Antwarp Belguim.

Show and Tell

Showing off my pets!
Suki is the lighter siamese mix and rocky is the tabby. Its funny to see them next to each other because they don't really like each other. Suki thinks she is the queen and should just be admired.
Rock wants to put her in her place but she just sticks her nose up at him. They are only together because they were both wanting to be on the monitor (its warm) eventually Suki pushed him off with her feet.
Chico the chihuahua is the old man... and Pickles is just a kid they both have fun playing together but not as much as Rock and Pickles... Its a riot to see the cat and the dog wrestling.
Never a dull moment here.

This and That

It's only a few short weeks till we fly to Amsterdam for a two week cruise. I find it hard to concentrate on anything other than what to pack and what a great time I'll be having. I did find time to put some glass in the kiln yesterday so I'll be working on a few new pendants and a couple of Glass Business card holders.
Show and Tell later .....
Ok need coffee and get some work done before I can play with my glass.
Good day all!
Oh yea.. The dogs and cats have been on their best behavior.... for now :)

Oh what a night......

Well, surviving this morning on lots of coffee. Last night went to bed about 11:00 pm
About 1 am I wake up to animal commotion. Apparently a neighborhood cat was in my back yard and chico was barking at it and the cat must of jumped into our yard and the chase was on. This cat must of gotten confused and ran in our doggie door and chico was close behind him. Next thing I know is waking up to dogs barking cats screaming. I ran out to the dining area and there is a white cat (not mine) in the corner. My cat Rocky is also known as the protector cat and both dogs are all running in every direction. Tom opens the front door and says lets see if the cat will run out. My first thought was sure that cat runs and all our animals will be right behind it.
So we gather our animals to put them in the bedroom and return to find the cat was gone.
He took that opportunity to get he hell out dodge!
In the end chico had a minor bite on his back and a few scratches on his tummy. The cats were walking around with tails puffed up. So after getting everyone settled down for the night I'm foggy headed and drinking lots of coffee.

Just another day in the life of the Kroplinksi's

Just finished a great Art Glass Peacock. Was surprised to see a hole in it when I pulled open the Kiln. But I'm loving it with the hole. Adds a whole new dimension to the piece. Funny how things work out.

No Sleep

Well last night at about 2 am my dog chico who is a 10 year old vicious chihuahua, woke me up. He ran outside through the doggy door and was attacking his dog house. He ran up to the dog house and jumped up and was biting the top of the opening and hanging from there. This usually happens every week or so when the neighborhood feral cats come over and piss on it.
Well it took him about 30 minutes to get out his aggression from the cat piss, before things settled down. So I'm up for 3 hours surfing the net and watching mindless tv before I fell back asleep.

Hey it's Monday!

Yup mondays not always a favorite day of the week. But today I'm feeling good. Maybe because I had a nice visit with friends yesterday who were in town. Or because I was good and did my morning exercises, in any case feeling great.
Not even a EVIL client who could destroy some great design work is going to bring me down. Just posted a new item to my Etsy site. An awesome turkey, he was my mom's I was going through some of her things and found this little guy.
I'd keep him, but I have too much clutter in my house now. Anyway he should be with someone who will appreciate him.
Ok back to the grind. I'll try and check back latter.

TGIF for real!

Friday, thank goodness! Some weeks just go on and on and on... Same old BS. This weekend is going to be just hanging out at home. Meeting some friends who are flying into Vegas for a wedding. Living in Vegas you get lots of visitors. I love it! I had a job this week that was one of those nightmares from Hell! Client sends copy last minute only time to dump copy into the layout. Send it back for THEM to proof. They ok and off to the printer. Printed it then they notice that there copy was missing stuff. blah blah blah.. Anyway, had to redo it. They had to pay for two printings. Not a happy turnout, but such is life of a graphic designer. I think I get out the crayons and pretend I'm six again.
Have a great day!

Hanging in there and perhaps I get up tomorrow!

The Cute Puppy

On the right of this blog you will see our newest addition to the animal house. His name is Pickles. My daughter who recently moved out decided she wanted a puppy. Well it didn't take long for her to realize that puppies are nearly as much trouble as babies. ( A great lesson for a 20 year old to learn) anyways. She works and she felt bad for having to leave him in her bathroom while she was away at work so he was a "Visitor" for a while till one day.... He he adopted us. As you can se he is adorable. But as you may know or not. Puppies need a lot of training before you can "relax".
Today for example, my day started quite early 5 am up to finish a project that I had only received copy for last night after 10:00pm. So I was up to finish. Well computer was not in the mode and we had battle. After playing marry-go-round with three computers in my home office. I got it finished. Because I had been pre-occupied. Pickles had a hay day. He left a nice gift on the carpet in the family room. He then Peed on the cat box. and chewed up a pair of my undies from the laundry. All this before 8am!
Well after re-installing Adobe software and cleaning up my mess from my scream rampage this morning I'm exhausted. I think Pickles is going to visit his Mom ( my daughter) tomorrow.
Have a great day.. Cuz I didn't Somebody has to! Even if it isn't me.

See you tomorrow!

Monday Blahs

Why does Monday have to always feel so gloomy. I hate to say good bye to weekends, I think a 2 day work week would suite me just fine! But alas I do have to eat and pay the utilities. And of course the Kids need shoes... My daughter only has 42 pairs of shoes why should she be deprived?
I had very good intentions today to do some work on my Jewelry craft. But the inspiration just wasn't there. I blame it on Monday Blahs and the phone keep ringing or the dogs were wrestling under my desk. Pick one!

So the day has finally come to the end and I still have design work to take care of. Those darn clients. What is up with having a Newsletter and having ever other sentence bolded. Kind of defeats the purpose of using bold. But you cant convince them of that. So you bold the hell out of the thing and hope that nobody finds out your were even involved with it.

Ok time to burn some dinner for the family. They like that. I tell them its a special cooking technique I saw on the Food channel.

See you tomorrow for terrible Tuesdays!

A new day....

So this is my blog. Blog who ever came up with that name. Sounds like some disgusting porridge your forced to eat because it will make you grow up to be healthy and strong.
Anyway, everyone has a blog so I thought why not. I can ramble on as well as the next slob.
I do want to say this. It does feel nice to have a place on the internet that I can say is mine.

Ok I am a graphic designer, I do ok. You don't get rich as a designer unless your a Super Star. I have had the luck to work with one of those "Super Stars" he has taught me well. I do appreciate the opportunity to work with such a talented individual.

I've recently felt the need to do something creative for me, not a client who will destroy your work with stupid ideas of how they can do a better job than you.

So I ran across some websites about fused glass and really got interested in trying this out. So before I invested a small fortune for the equipment to do it I took a couple classes and really liked the idea of working with HOT GLASS. The thing that really intrigued me was you don't really know what the glass will look like till it is finished in the kiln.

Now I've set up a shop at Etsy where many talented artist and venders sell their wares.
The thing I like about Etsy is that you have to have made the item yourself. No re-selling items unless they are Vintage. I must say it is a very nice community and I'm happy that I found it.
I like the idea of buy from artist directly. Lately I'm not so happy with corporate america so the more I can support other artists the better I feel.

I hope to be posting some great examples of art and items from Etsy Shops soon.

Thanks and I look forward to getting to know everyone who posts here.
